Sponsored by FIU and the Friends of the Key Largo Cultural Center, the last event of the Ocean Life Series for the season, Living with Coastal Hazards, will be offered FREE to the public. On Friday, July 19th at the Murray Nelson Government & Cultural Center at 7 p.m., Dr. Stephen Leatherman will discuss major research focus and storm impact on coastal areas. WaterSCAPES: Exploring Coastal Wetlands, motivated by NASA’s Science Mission, asks: How is the Earth changing and what are the consequences? Dr. Fernando Miralles-Wihelm will discuss wetland ecosystems of the Everglades and the Biosphere in Mexico.
The February 22nd Ocean Life series will continue with Ligia Collado-Vides PhD discussing Macroalgae: Hidden Colors of the Sea. Free admission and open to the public with a Meet and Greet 6 p.m. and Program 7 p.m. at the Government/Cultural Center at mile marker 102.
